The Produce Buyer / Manager of Produce Acquisition is
responsible for the procurement and management of all produce items
acquired by the Greater Boston Food Bank. This position oversees and
manages all produce purchasing, donations, and inventory to ensure a
consistent supply of produce is available for distribution to GBFB’s
network of partners in Eastern Massachusetts. This person will
maintain a consistent product mix while expanding variety to achieve
GBFB targets and help achieve our mission to End Hunger Here.
Position Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Responsible for the management of produce inventory acquired
across all MCTs, including budget planning and budget management
for all produce purchasing programs.
Tracks and measures purchases vs available funds to achieve
monthly and annual goals.
Sets up contracted programs with suppliers on key produce
commodity items; Establishes and processes annual contracts with
MA Grown farmers to support the MEFAP program.
Purchases products at the most favorable price consistent with
quality, quantity, specification requirements and other

quality checks on all items previously received to determine if
potential action is needed.
Purchase Order and invoice management through NetSuite.
Maintains proper inventory levels to ensure high service
levels and variety for the clients.
Coordinates and schedules delivery of product into the GBFB;
