Job Description:

The Project Manager is responsible for assisting with the overall enterprise-wide effectiveness and efficiency of IT project management services, ensuring that timely and appropriate IT services are developed to fulfill business requirements. Under the general direction of VP of Digital Strategy, the Project Manager will plan, direct, and coordinate activities to manage and implement projects from initiation to final operational stages. The Project Manager is expected to demonstrate significant depth of technical expertise in project management and drive continuous improvement of project management policies, standards, and procedures.

Key Responsibilities

Planning

  • Plan, control, and manage the delivery of IT projects to meet agreed-upon business needs, acquiring and utilizing the necessary resources
  • Develop strategic relationships with team members, business partners, and other key stakeholders, partnering across the IT team to align with internal and external demands.
  • Manage and coordinate project attributes including budgets, staffing, priorities, dependencies, risks, requirements, and milestones
  • Review project progress and conduct regular project reviews to manage and/or report any changes in budgets, staffing priorities, dependencies, risks, requirements, and milestones
  • Ensure project teams have high levels of engagement with the business and are developing effective working relationships at all levels by simplifying complex technical messaging
  • Conduct regular meetings and produce regular communications for internal and external stakeholders as applicable
  • Support the definition, implementation, and embedding of project management methodologies and governance frameworks
  • Document and manage IT governance practices including timely escalation of issues
  • Proactively provide applicable technological recommendations to current processes to ensure better alignment with latest industry best practices

Leadership & People

  • Manage teams composed of project communications, change and vendor management in the execution of complex projects
  • Share knowledge and develop team capabilities to strengthen understanding of IT, enterprise industry, and business issues
  • Proactively identify areas of improvement, share lessons learnt across the GBFB’s IT project teams and encourage others to do the same
  • Communicate regularly with functional and IT leaders to ensure enterprise alignment and support with technical and non-technical personnel

Finance & Budget

  • Prepare and manage project budgets and track costs with the VP of Digital Strategy in line with GBFB budgeting processes
  • Monitor and control resources, revenue and capital costs against budget, managing expectations of all key project stakeholders
  • Assess ROI of projects and monitor metrics to inform decisions that maximize returns across enterprise projects and programs
  • Deliver accurate benefit tracking, financial reporting, and administration to support project management

Experience and Skills:

  • Ability to work creatively and analytically with others in a problem-solving environment
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with an ability to communicate (I) at all levels of the organization and (ii) in terms that are understandable to end users in all disciplines
  • Proven experience in running successful projects and processes
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and effectively time-manage
  • Experience developing, monitoring, and managing project budgets and schedules
  • Expert knowledge of project life cycle and portfolio management principles
  • Expert knowledge of Project Management Institute (PMI) standards and body of knowledge
  • Advanced skill using Microsoft Office Suite, Microsoft Project, and Microsoft Visio
  • Strict discretion and sensitivity in maintaining confidentiality
  • Genuine appreciation of the GBFB’s mission and the ability to authentically communicate it

Preferred Education and Certification

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field
  • 10+ years project management experience in technology
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) or related certification
  • Scrum Master Certification (SCM)
