Position Summary

The Human Resources Manager is responsible for designing and implementing Diversity, Equity and Inclusion programs that create a culture of belongingness for Team Members, partners who support GBFB’s mission and our neighbors in Eastern Massachusetts. Reporting to the Vice President of Human Resources, this role is responsible for developing and implementing organizational policies, practices and programs that demonstrate our commitment to authentically engaging in providing equal opportunities and promoting inclusivity.

As a member of the Human Resources Team, the incumbent will also be responsible for activities that support and advance GBFB’s culture. The incumbent will partner with other members of the Human Resources Team and organizational leadership in creating and implementing plans that ensure equitable internal practices and support diversity. This role plays a strategic part in scaling, sustaining, and maintaining diversity and inclusion best practices through various programs and initiatives that align with our values and business goals.

Position Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion

With direction from the Vice President of Human Resources, develop and implement effective diversity, equity, and inclusion strategies for the organization. Related activities include, but are not limited to:

  • Serving as the point person for all DEI efforts across the organization
  • Researching and recommending creative strategies to achieve DEI-related goals.
  • Designing, implementing, and managing approved strategies and programs throughout the Team Member lifecycle.
  • Recommending and assisting with the implementation of strategies that positively impact how we engage in the diverse communities we support.
  • Establishing benchmarks and metrics to ensure effectiveness of DEI programming; assessing gaps, coaching people leaders, measuring performance and making recommendations that promote meaningful, long-lasting change.
  • Collaborating with the Human Resources Team Members to create and facilitate effective DEI-related trainings, with a focus on building cultural competence.
  • Supporting internal communications on DEI topics.
  • Staying on top of industry DEI trends and best practices.

Related Human Resources Responsibilities

  • Manage the annual Team Member Engagement Survey program, evaluating results and providing recommendations on ways to improve and maintain engagement levels.
  • Collaborate with Human Resources Team Members to develop and implement engagement activities, including but not limited to Team Member recognition programs, Team Member events, and Team Member pulse surveys.
  • Guide supervisors/managers and individual contributors regarding GBFB policies, practices, Values, and HR programs. Communicating, and interpreting HR policies and practices to ensure fair and consistent application, recommending policy revisions to the Vice President of Human Resources.
  • Collaborate, partner, and assist in the development, enhancement, and execution of programs that foster a unified and balanced culture that inspires excellent performance and strong team member engagement in support of GBFB’s values.
  • Perform other work-related duties as assigned.

Physical Demands

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift 25 pounds at times.
  • Must be able to access and navigate each department at the organization’s facility, including the warehouse.

The job is performed indoors in a traditional office setting.

Mandatory Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources Management, Business Administration, or related field.
  • SHRM-CP designation, a plus.
  • Experience working with a non-exempt and exempt workforce is highly preferred.
  • Non-profit experience a plus.
  • Minimum of 5 years of Human Resources Generalist experience, with at least 3 years of direct experience in effectively designing and implementing DEI strategies.
  • Experience in effectively initiating and leading uncomfortable inclusion-based conversations with employees and stakeholders at all levels.
  • Experience in evaluating employee engagement and developing initiatives to maintain and/or improve engagement.
